One item you should check before downloading anything is the setting in your browser. By default browsers are set to download files to your download folders automatically without asking.
Recommend changing this setting to "Ask Where to Save Each File Before Downloading". This way you can actually see the name of the file your going to download and select a location before it is saved.

Web sites contain lots of advertisements and download options and it can be like walking through a minefield trying to find the right one.
You may see very a very large Download sign at the top of the page, but on close examination you will find it is an advertisement.
DO NOT ever click on DRIVER UPDATES that offer to scan and update all your drivers.

Be very alert when installing any program. Read each step and look for TIC Boxes that what to install optional software. Adobe Acrobat Reader is one example. The web page has on option to install McAfee Security Scan Plus right on the web site before you click download. Untic this before you click on download. Some installers will have tic boxes in the windows that come up when your installing the program.
You can uninstall a program from Control Panel > Programs and Features. This method may leave behind some items. It is recommended to use a special program like BCU, Revo or Wise.
Uninstall Programs will do a secondary scan and completely remove all traces of the program. Anti-Virus programs require special programs to uninstall them.

To only remove Norton and not reinstall it, click Advanced Options and then click Remove Only.
